The Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit was created to provide Canadians with a paid sick leave option where one might not be available through their employer. This benefit was never intended for travellers who are quarantining after a holiday and we have been clear that no one should be vacationing abroad right now.
That is why our Government will propose legislation so all international travellers who need to quarantine, including people returning from vacation, visiting loves ones, and attending to real estate matters abroad, will not be eligible to receive support from any of the Canada Recovery Benefits during their mandatory quarantine.
This important change will ensure the COVID programs we have in place are there for Canadians who need them most.
