Securing an additional 20 million doses of vaccine
January 13, 2021

Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that we have reached an agreement with Pfizer to buy an additional 20 million doses of their COVID-19 vaccine. This is part of our strategy to protect the health and safety of Canadians by ensuring that everyone has access to a free COVID-19 vaccine by September 2021.

So far, we’ve delivered 548,950 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to the provinces and territories, so they can administer them to Canadians. We have let all provinces and territories know how many vaccines they’ll be receiving every week between now and the end of February. This will make sure they have the vaccines and information they need to keep rolling out doses as quickly as possible.

While this is good news, additional vaccines won’t help us if we contract COVID-19 now. Until everyone is safe from this virus, let’s wear masks, download COVID Alert – and stay home whenever possible. This isn’t easy, but we’ll get through this.
